La Playa de Corazón is a hotel design project inspired by a small family-owned resort. The name originates from the owner’s grandmother, Corazon, and translates to “The Beach of Heart.” The P & C logo and border draw influence from Mindanao pre-colonial tribal patterns, a cultural heritage of Southern Philippines. The design preserves these cultural roots while incorporating refined, high-end branding. A serif font with a thin line weight adds a sophisticated presentation to the name and location.
The background image features a tropical beach scene from the resort, highlighting the natural environment. The color palette, used consistently throughout the branding, reflects the surrounding landscape. Earthy brown tones represent the sand, soil, and tree branches found on the property, creating a cohesive connection between the design and its environment.

Throughout the process, much of this was a personal touch to my own cultural heritage, and symbolized the roots of my upbringings. The process was a rather unconventional approach since this was a family business that I was connected to. Much of the process involved zoom calls and long converstations that with family members that would touch on the significance of the company, and how it has been passed down through generations. Throughout all this, finishing this project holds sentimental value not only to me, but to my extended family.
